"Bellevue Teepee ... Pete’s Park ... improved signage ... Pool, Bike Park and Ski Hill upgrades"
Minor maintenance items and commendable volunteer efforts, but I can't help thinking there should be more to show for all our money:
The 2013 Capital Budget has $1,500,000 for "Recreation/Culture/Heritage Iniatives", $90,000 "Recreation Feasibility Study", $200,000 Entry Signs. The Operational budget for Community Services is $1,444,314 and for Facilities $1,126,906. (Not to mention $1,982,686 for Administration to oversee all this).

"less empty stores on main street in Blairmore"
If you say so. Depends what you count and what date you started counting.

The article is surface scratching to prevent showing the real issues. The CLC is a fiasco and looking at the destructing I don't see any asbestos mitigation. Were we again screwed? The excessive use of consultants shows the lack of experience of the mayor and council, as well as a lack of fiscal responsibility. Fire department - we don't need this high price monster which does little to improve the safety here, nor can we afford it.

As for cleanup, why are the CPOs not issuing citations to the Municipality? We have to abide by a letter to clean up by x date or the municipality will hire someone to do the clean up and send the bill plus who knows what charges to the owner. Fair is fair, but this is a "do as I say not as I do" government. So, yes there are good things mentioned but really they are not addressing the real situation, issues or screwups.

Just another person who moved to town and now is going to give us dumb hicks our medicine. Seems that every few years someone comes into town and without understanding the issues thinks they have all the solutions. Not a knock against all newcomers, most are great, but it seems there's always a loudmouth or two that thinks they need to fix things. Take a look at the source of this letter...she just so happens to be buddies with the mare and his clan...she did run that highly attended rum runner days after all....boy did she ever fix that! Who needs thunder?

I love all the new bright shiny things we have gotten bestowed upon us too. I'd also love to drive a caddy and live in a big fancy house by a lake ... but I CAN'T AFFORD IT. See the connection here?

I believe all towns pretty well have the same issues.

Sometimes you need fresh eyes, plain and simple.

And, sometimes you need people that are not entwined with others.

Penny deserves Kudos for putting in some effort into the wasteland created by the present council. Hopefully she will not be too jilted and continues with her good efforts once we get these turkeys out of office and start bringing this community back together.

Show me a "town" with 5,500 people that has the same government administration, debt load and tax base. There aren't any! Fresh eyes means Consultants who know nothing about the area and who "milk the cow" working for a mayor who also had fresh eyes. Amateur hour, and you are concerned that a few long time residents who care about the mismanagement are a bad thing? You really think that the present mayor and council aren't entwined. The Ratepayers are a cross section and the executive is entwined how? Please enlighten me.

Thanks for the link Brian. I must say, Crowsnest folks avail themselves of the comment button far more than Pincher folks, per reader. That's not meant as praise or criticism, just an observation. As editor i certainly get exposed to a multitude of viewpoints.

"Thanks for the link Brian."

If you want to be taken seriously here in the Pass, Chris... at least learn to get people's names right.

It's Dean. Dean Ward.

My apologies Dean, correction noted.
