Community Standards Bylaws Crowsnest Pass

Over the last twenty seven years of living in the probably one of the most beautiful places in the world, its been brought to my attention alot. That despite the fact that ninety five per cent or higher of the people that reside here. Work very hard to look after there homes and yards there is still that small percentage that have the belief that they have a "right" to live like slobs. This not only affects those hard working people that live around them, it reflects on our whole community. Is it time for us has a council to review our Community Standards Bylaw?

Available at http://www.town.crowsnestpass.ab.ca/services/bylaws-and-policies look close to the bottom of the page its bylaw number 534.

I hear lots of people talking about selling "Tourism" as our future, in my mind how we present ourselves as a community will have an impact on how well we do.

HI Dean,
I was reading John Prince's blog about this very thing. So why doesn't someone do something about these premises? And if you go to John's you'll know which property in particular is being discussed.

Can a complaint be made anonymously? And I say this because it is a small town and there is a possibility of retaliation of some sort.

Dean,
Is there not a bylaw officer in the Crowsenst Pass that should be enforcing these bylaws? If there is any hope of increasing the number of tourists or new residents to the area, it is a no brainer that standards need to be enforced – especially when it comes to cleaning up the area.
Other towns do this - other towns (like Fernie, Canmore, Cochrane to name a few) also have bylaws ensuring that new developments, commercial signage, etc have a standard 'look' that reflects a unifying theme.

Why isn't Crowsnest Pass doing this?

Few comments:
Until council leads with this issue individuals are not going to step forward.
Yes we need to see what other communties are doing, why reinvent the wheel lets copy sucess.
Bylaw officer finished his employment with the municipality on March 27th
And yes we need strong bylaws that are enforced, that direction needs to come from the elected officials.

Sorry for the delay in getting back
