Stelmach in trouble.

Is this the beginning of the end for steady Eddie?
Will more MLA's defect?
Who's next?
Guy Boutillier?
Should MLA's be allowed to switch parties?
What happens next?
Will the Wildrose party win the next election?

I guess it's a wake up call for Ed. I'd be interested in what the voters in Forsyth's riding think, having lived there for 16 years previous to moving down here.

I believe that for strategic purposes the WRA are attempting to bring Boutilier into the fold just prior to going back to the legislature.
Keep building momentum, they are doing very well in the opinion polls. Which shows that a good number of Albertans, are seeking the great "right" hope.
Stelmach and his inner circle will respond by suddenly becoming "fiscally conservative". (See Budget March 2010).
This will have some appeal to the Conservative Party hardcore but will it work for the large number of people that jump on and off the band wagon? I don't know.
Stelmach comes across as a very nice guy, I'm sure he is probably a great fathar and grandfather. But remember he was the second choice of most Conservative party members.
That leadership vote became more about who not to pick that who to pick. Nobody had a position of a clear majority so they went with the lessor of the three evils.
Not a great way to pick a leader.
Also keep in mind that there was supposed to be a cabinet shuffle next week, that as now been pushed back two weeks due to the Premier going on a trade mission.
Which is code for we better make sure, one that we have the loyalty of everybody we are putting into the cabinet. Or two that maybe the lure of a cabinet position will prevent another potential floor crosser on the team.
How embarrassing would it be if they appointed somebody to the cabinet and then two months later they cross the floor.
Imagine the promises that are being made to Boutiller by both sides right now!
So my opinion at the end of the day if the impending cabinet shuffle and the 2010 budget do not turn the opinion polls around the inner party shuffling for the leadership will begin, if it as not already.

My immediate reaction when I heard that Forsyth was crossing the floor was that she wanted a Cabinet post (she did with Ralph) and that had something to do with the move.
