Hillcrest Fire Hall soon to close

Council will be voting on March 5 to accept the Fire/Rescue Master Plan, that was presented at the G and P meeting today. If accepted the Hillcrest Fire Hall will be lost.

More news to follow in the morning. The financial justification on this was based on a savings of $47,000 a year.

Phone numbers for Council if anybody can send me the phone numbers for Saje and Saindon
I would be glad to post them

Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions in your job. Too bad REDREDRED Ford did not make any. People must learn that they cannot have every little thing that they desire. Life will go on.

Good thing the fireman and volunteers donated their time, resources and money to increase the value of the building for the Muncipality.

I was told that insurance rates go up the further you live from a firehall.

47,000$ to maintain that building?!Insurance and utilities and potential upkeep sure have gotten expensive. They would not have to pay property tax.I would like to see the break down on expenses as to how they came to this number. I think it is just an excuse to do everything they can to make sure that future councils have a very tough time restoring anything volunteer fireman related.

$47,000 almost the same amount of money some genius spent to take a bunch of triangles put them on a piece of paper steal a word from the River Run sign and call it a brand.
I suspect if I lived in Hillcrest I would rather have my tax dollars spent on a Fire Hall.

This council should write a book "Getting re-elected 101".
But soon we will hear a chorus of councillors saying "it's not about getting re-elected"

Why would i, who live in Hillcrest go to the open house and free BBQ Friday to be held at Blairmore fire hall and support what is obviously a political ploy. It is ts a pity the mare and crew didn't not see fit to thank all those in Hillcrest by holding the open house there. Anyway,I will boycott events arranged by the cnp that in iny way adds fuel to their dismal handling of the volunteer firemen.
I would suggest going to the BBQ condones councils moves to date. Let's boycott...the event.

How much has been spent on the fire consultants, report writing, Director of Protective Services. Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Contract Firemen, Full Time Firemen. New Firemen, Fire Command Pickup, Deputy Fire Command Pickup, Equipment for New Firemen. Insurance for New Pickups? Am I missing something here? What are the projected savings of this disaster in "Disaster Services" restructuring? They are very proactive with taxpayers' dollars.

So will they take the final step and sell the building prior to the election.
Dean I also heard that Andrew Saje walked out of the budget meeting last week, plus he did not attend any of the three meetings yesterday, do you know anything about that.

From the 2001 Fire Master plan:

In a sampling of 223 homes about 8% of our overall homes 90% of the respondents had no complaints about the Fire Departments.
