Broadcasting council meeting

At this afternoon g and p meeting this afternoon the Mayor put forth the issue of broadcasting Council meeting, it spoke about how  Council has been waiting for many months for administration to bring forth all the information. The Mayor stated that this issue can be fumbled around for what ever time administration wishes but they better be ready for the August 20 meeting. At this point Councillor Saje raised a small concern that being the fact that council had not even debated or decided this issue yet . To which King Bruce indicated again by August 20 it better be ready to go.
So tonight it's back on the agenda administration hands out a piece of paper with more information and somewhere in the discussion after waiting for months suddenly the cost of $20,000 was thrown out at this Point the Mayor decides it's time to take this long waited information away and study further.

Note: Cost of administration $4325 per day

What a Gong Show!

How much taxpayers money was spent on lawyers and consultants on the Medican up to this time? Very good bet our elected councilors don't have any idea. It appears the Mayor is not accountable to anyone.

"cost of $20,000"

They could just set up a video cam and put it on youtube, that wouldn't cost anything.

But that would not be the slick professional live-streamed broadcast production Himself envisions.

If it's live-streamed, I wonder what it will show during the the long in camera sessions preceding the quick rubber-stamp voting and convening the meeting.

The lemmings do not need to debate, they just need to be told what is going to happen.
It is like the demolition of the CLC, I think this will happen before October. They may put on a little show of debate but I think it has already been decided despite the fact there have been no council meetings.

Bruce took out $100,000 out of seniors’ reserves to make this year’s budget work. Now he wants to put a show for the seniors at the York Creek Lodge. How naïve he thinks they are?

Ha Ha, Dean. Only $20k? He should use his astute business sense in negotiating costs and argue the fact that very little production is necessary as little is actually discussed without going 'in camera'. That should get us a massive discount and also provide content for his next Mayor's Corner about his ability to save taxpayer's money.

The demolition needs to take place.

Someone should tell him that there is no Academy Award yet for best Mayor in a leading role.

anon 1:31 You are right sooner or later the demolition needs to take place. This council has had nearly 3 years to do something with that property, they have failed. There is no point in making a rush decision. Leave it for the next council to decide.

Where does one procure the job of holding a sign in front of the camera for an hour and a half that reads 'be right back'?

After almost three years of doing only policy work, now they want to show us something more substantial. Too little too late. Spend $50,000 to reserve a hotel, spend $20,000 to stream meetings. How much per meeting with only few left? Rush a tender proposal for demolition? How much money on lawyers? This will go in our local history as Dark Ages.

Maybe Bruce should strike a new task force to tell him what to do for the remainder of his term. He seems to like consultants and task forces. One trick pony.

Was this $20,000 per year or $20,000 per meeting?

10:25:00 AM,

I agree. What use is a live feed unless it is to create a Town Hall effect, inviting questions, in real time, that we know would never be allowed. Better to save and post to YouTube or even better, to post on the municipal website.

This is a great project for our students at the local highschool.
