just got back from vacation some highlights:

the month

On July 25 the new Arts and Culture board will have its
first meeting
Donna Stelmachovich was appointed to the Seniors Board
Appointment of Returning Officer-Nobody applied for the
position under the MGA somebody must be
appointed by August 2 administration recommended that Chief Financial Officer
Marion Vanoni be appointed. By vote of council it was determined that this
issue be put of until the special council meeting of July 23, to see if anybody
else who as previously done the job would be interested.
Stephanie Hamilton was appointed to sit on the Municipal
Heritage Board
Task Force on Disaster Prevention-Mayor Decoux proposed that
a Task Force of local residents, politicians, provincial experts to come
together to provide recommendations to prevent future flooding issues. CAO
will bring a list of potential members for the August 6 council meeting.
Live streaming of council meetings-Information was provided
to council by administration on the process and costs of this ($20,000) it was
determined to defer this issue until the next council meeting August 6.
Number of correspondence were presented
Minutes from various meeting were accepted by council
Bylaws 872 to rezone five acres of land across from the high
school in Coleman from Non-urban to Drive In Commercial. Lots of discussion
above this possibly being another hotel, condo, storage etc.
Public Input: Aggie Mitchell took the opportunity to spend
much of her allotted time talking about how she volunteered for the Sinister 7
race, what a great event it was for the community, how many people it brought
into the community and how it supported our local businesses. Mrs Mitchell then
went on to talk about how she is so disappointed with all the negativity in the
community in her opinion it’s time we were all more grateful for all the
positive things we have.
At this point Councilor Gail moved to go In Camera to deal
with (3) land and (2) personnel issues.
One minute later Councilor Saje departed the meeting
After coming out of In Camera Councilor Mitchell moved to
schedule a Special meeting of Council on July 23 to deal with the issues of the
Returning Officer, Annexation and the hotel

Myron Thompson, Chief Administrative Officer, provided and reviewed a written report in reference to a
Request for Proposals for the development of a hotel complex on the Municipal owned property occupied
by the former hospital building.
Council’s recommendations for the Request for Proposals – Hotel Development Opportunity – 20th Avenue
– Highway 3 – Crowsnest Pass Alberta included:
• Clarification that the Municipality is not building or managing the hotel; the developer should
partner with a hotel chain
• Clarification of the award criteria
• Improve the map and ensure it shows the golf course
• Clarification that the Municipality has not decided to demolish the building prior to obtaining
proposals
The Chief Administrative Officer will make amendments in order to not restrict the Municipality and to
provide additional opportunities for partnering.

I had a smokie yesterday, it was spicy and good, but not the same as TITV.
Last year there were about 40 people downtown for the concert, this year the crowd grew to about ten, at this rate they will organize it all the way to one, and he will be asked to shut the lights off. Who is mini-me?

Mini-me is anyone's guess, mine is Brian Gallant.
Good to see we had the Peace Officer from Black Diamond in town to control the crowds at the concert. It was hard controlling the 10 and 12 year olds. I heard he gave out 10 tickets on Saturday for bouncing to high.
Over all a rousing success. I can not wait to see the spin on this one. I wonder what Angie will say about this. From 25,000 to maybe 700. I would say a huge success.

i ASK YOU ALL WHY DO WE NEED A HOTEL COMPLEX ON THE CENTER SITE? THE PREVIOUS CEDAR INN IS PRACTICALLY WITHIN SPITTING DISTANCE. WE SHOULD HAVE A BIG BOX STORE SO THAT IT WOULD COMPETE WITH THE GROCERY STORES WE HAVE HERE WHERE EVERY THING IS AT LEAST A DOLLAR OR MORE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE.
I SAW MANY PEOPLE GIVE THE MAYOR THE FINGER AS HE PASSED BY IN THE PARADE. HIS POPULARITY HAS NOT IMPROVED PR FIRM OR NOT. ANOTHER WASTE OF MONEY.
THE SHOW AND SHINE WAS VERY INTERESTING AND ENTERTAINING. TOOK ME BACK A FEW YEARS WHEN WE HAD FAST CARS, LOTS OF CHROME, HAMBURGERS AND BLUE JEANS. GOOD OLD DAYS.

Actually they came through on their promises and came through with not one, but seven goats. That raises attendance to seventeen, which should be considered an all-round success that we will read about in the next Mayor's Corner.
Unfortunately, due to noise issues emanating from the concerts, the goats had to be removed at about 5pm.
I think they should change the title on the agenda from "Public Input" to "Petting Zoo."
It appears to me that that is all that happens in that portion of the meeting.
(Wow...that's a lot of "that's" in one sentence.)
No 1:57, 'thats' are quite OK.
Someone uses this as a subordinating conjunction all the time. Just a few examples..
-That the CLC will be demolished before the first snow flies.
-That a promised major industry will be announcing their commitment soon.
-That we will soon be getting a transit service.
-That we can look forward to an indoor pool.
-That we will soon be the center of the mining industry.
-That a major portion of Ranchlands should rightfully be ours.
-That taxes will not increase but that revenue generated through other nefarious means is fine.
-That $50,000 will guarantee a Best Western Hotel.
-That the Peace Officer program would be effective and pay for itself.
-That the reorganisation of our fire departments will be cost effective.
- And so on.
We have learned to ignore the 'thats'. You are doing great with your posts. Carry on.
