Confusion in the Crowsnest Pass

Below is a Municipal "Press Release" simply titled "Press Release" can anybody clarify what is going on here?
This "Press Release" seems to say what?
Maybe tomorrow there will be a "Press Release" that says "the municipality will continue to perform business as usual, and we will update you when there is something different going on"

"The Municipality continues to transition the Fire Services and Search and Rescue Departments towards a single integrated department as per the structure change approved in November 2011.  Council and Administration wish to thank All Fire Services Incorporated for the assistance and support towards the initiation of this process.  The Municipality will continue to move forward in the restructuring process as the new Director of Protective and Community Services assumes their duties."

On March 6,2012 the following motion was passed by council:
M#6441-12: Councillor Mitchell moved that Council through resolution appoints Donna Tona, CTS Interim Manager of Enforcement Services and KJ (Ken) Brands Interim Manager of Protective Services with all the permissions and requirements for decisions within the Departments of Fire & Rescue Services and Enforcement Services.

On the Pass Herald site http://passherald.ca/archives/120327/index.htm they have announced that Interim Manager of Protective Services Ken Brands has ended his relationship with the Municipality.

I hope we are not paying $1200 a day for somebody to write that very informative press release.

All hands on deck.
The ship is sinking.

After hurting my feelings by deleting my comment you want me to repost. Oh, well, okay.... :-)

Dean,
I heard from a reliable source in the media that Interim Fire Chief / Director of Protective Services Ken Brands has quit, as has one other. The 'other' I do not know as yet who that is?

The bureaucratic bungling would be funny if our tax dollars were not at stake. This whole municipal restructuring experiment is turning into a real property tax disaster. It can still get worse.

Perhaps we can save money by eliminating a council that seems to be operating as a bunch of Muppets anyway.? The next election ballot could consist of a slate of consultants. We just have to pick one. What do you think Donna?

What an absolute and total gong show. I am at a loss for words...

Maybe he quit to go get married

When I voted for change I did not think it would be this often.
I wish council would tell us how much we have spent on Consultants

Wow, even our fire chief, can only handle so much heat!

One day, as I sat sad and lonely musing to myself, a voice came to me out of the blue....

It said "cheer up, things could get worse".

.... so I cheered up....

and sure enough....

things got worse.

Read the letters to the editior in the Herald.
I can not believe we are paying a consultant to harrass our business people at 6am.

John Vigna's letter hits the nail on the head describing our present situation. Arrogance combined with lack of common sense. It appears we have a Mayor who lacks even some basic political skills. We have top administration with limited administrative experience. On top of this, we have a council that can't, or won't, exercise some common sense skills supervising the other two.

This place is insane I read in the paper that they are going to spend $10,000 on a leash free dog park.
Plus then there will be a cost every year for the maintenance of that park.
How long before the expansion of the municipal office?

Anybody hear that the municipality will be financing a third floor on the office? $4-5 million

The administrators can make a good case to this council regarding the new addition to the municipal office. After all, it was the council that has approved all this new administrative expansion. They will probably add some extra conference rooms for the visiting consultants as well. Meanwhile, the potholes have never been this bad from one end to the other.

Funny about that talk of expansion of the municipal office.

The Cando, Crowsnest Culture and Recreation Society that is currently working on raising funds to build and run a recreation center, got the green light from council last year to proceed. Part of those plans were to potentially house the Municipal Offices in this center. Why would council approve such a plan, then talk about expansion of the current Municipal Office location where it presently stands? Just more spending money on duplicates services?!?!!?

I guess you, John, Dave and Ian weren't all that bad, huh?

how can council approve a new fire plan put in place by the fire commision, the interm fire cheif, and the fire cheifs of the "crowsnest fire depts" and then the almighty myron thompson can veto the whole plan can someone tell me why he has more power than council? Who really runs this place?

Obviously someone is having a hard time. Since they are going in circles, there likely will be a call for a coordinator and a report. Another fine example of our newfound prosperity.

Do you really think they will ever raise enough money for the Indoor swimming pool.
On the present pool they have pushed this years starting date back a week. Plus intend on paying the employees a lower rate.
You will have more luck waiting for global warming so you can go swimming out at the lakes.

Controlling information and access in a small town, anywhere, is impossible and it makes people appear even less competent than they really are.
