One Councillor's comments on the Centre sale

With the hotel development, all I can say at the moment is that last Tuesday council approved the CAO to enter into a sale and construction agreement with Medican General Contractors. Because it is still a conditional contract we have been advised by our solicitor that we cannot release any specifics at this time and without the agreement of the other party. I want this finalized as much as anyone but both sides are combing the contract for the minute details. I will say that I am very happy with what I see in this contract including sale price and timelines. I am keen to see this project move ahead. The developers are planning an open house on Feb. 12 but that is still tentative.

Not a done deal yet. Open house on Feb 12 really????????
Does anybody know what the caveats are on the Devon gift to the community. Hopefully it is not done like the Nature Conservancy property sales where you get a piece of land cheap. That you can not do anything with.

Does Gallant know how stupid he sounds? On Monday the Mayor is on the radio telling us the CAO brought the agreement to his house at 10:00 pm to sign. On Tuesday Gallant is posting he would like to give us some information “but both sides are combing the contract for the minute details.”

I would love to see this agreement after all it has been 10 months in the making.

Combing for details. No wonder they don't say anything useful, on advice of "our solicitors." Does not look good.

Anon 5:39 :
The Promoter (front page) says:

" ... Mayor Bruce Decoux said on CJPR Radio that he believes a hotel is planned. "

Sounds like a hotel is a maybe.

Did you hear it that way?

What did he sign at 10pm? Did he read it? If he did, he would know whether a hotel is included in the agreement he signed. Is this an unreasonable assumption?
