Great editorial!!

I do have question. If enhanced policing cost 56,000 and council says the RR weekend is costing them 150,000 to 200,000 dollars does mean that they are spending between 100,000 and 150,000 on items that are not related to Thunder???

It appears that our leadership does not like media much, just like governing was easy in the first place, let’s pick a fight with the media for just doing its job. There was a TV reporter here who attempted to contact our leadership – only to get a no comment. The leadership had an opportunity to explain itself on the television in its own words, seldom one see a politicians avoiding TV cameras. So here are two suggestions: stop using public pulpit to bit up on the people who are just doing their job and, instead, read Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People – if this does not work, try the “Toastmasters International (TI) is a nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills. Through its thousands of member clubs, Toastmasters International offers a program of communication and leadership projects designed to help men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking.” (Wikipedia)

Joni hit the nail on the head. Thanks Joni, for having the courage and support to write an editorial like this. It's time the Crowsnest Pass gets out of the dark ages, under the thumbs of control and oppression. We are going to be a ghost town if it continues. Sad.

This council has stimulated at least one part of our economy, word is that the circulation is up at both local papers. Keep up the good work ladies.

It is indeed very well written.
I have never commented on here before but while we are talking about the media.
It appears to both myself and my husband that the media has been a lot easier on this council than the previous one.
Maybe it is beginning to change?

Thanks C+F

Why would anyone so obviously thin skinned run for public office where all of his personal insecurities are put on display daily?

The Rum Runners committee would have no trouble getting volunteers if it was just about planning and organizing the event.

What scares people away, particularly the business community, is the involvement with political issues such as policing, random camping bylaws and municipal spending.

These other issues should be dealt with by Council or official Council Committees, subject to FOIP, "pecuniary interest" and other laws. It is irresponsible and probably illegal for Council to attempt an "end run" around these laws by handing off their duties to an outside group.
