WOW! WOW!
They just don't get it! I can't believe they didn't think this would happen. I wonder how many firefighters they think will stay...they are in for a rude awakening.

Volunteer firefighters are highly qualified, but by definition they are NOT professionals. They do not have full time pay, job security and severance rights like professionals.

I don't think volunteers in any organization have an obligation to put up with abusive or incompetent management.

no, I think the firefighters are in for a rude awakening when their good ol boys club goes down.

So does an "external examination" mean another high priced consultant?

This is amazing we have a Fire Chief and a Director of Protective and Community Services. Both are supposed to have 20+ years of Fire experience between them.
Probably being paid $250,000 in salary alone and we have to bring in external resources to fix our problems.
Why don't we just hire an Assistant Fire Chief and if that does not solve the problem. Let's hire two Vice Assistant Fire Chiefs. Where does it end?

Maybe off the subject a little. But what amazes me is all these people (I know it's not everybody) who two years ago were "ranting and raving" about this "new council" who now would hang them from the highest tree.
I supported the previous council and felt the majority of them were on the right track. Crowsnest Pass aren't you glad you elected this council of highly educated people that brought forth "change"
Think back to the Mayor's task force and his big strategic plan 90% of those people had zero invested in the Crowsnest Pass. But their plan is determining and directing the future of this community???? At least for one more year. I certainly hope next election people don't get fooled so easily.

ANON 6:37 you are absolutely right on in your take on this matter. The same people who were protesting and gathering petitions against the previous council are at it again. Only this time they are right this mayor and council have no respect for the volunteers or citizens of this community. They have been slowly turning this community into a police state where any one who stands up to them will be dealt with accordingly. This dismissal was more about proving a point and is directly related to the Blairmore Fire Departments refusal to negotiate a deal with the mayor over Thunder in the valley. The mayor is a bully plain and simple and needs to be dealt with "now" before he damages this community any further.

Hopefully our Worship takes his council with him when he moves back to northern Saskatchewan.
