Pretty awesome I think.

Check out John Prince's blog and the Medicine Hat newspapers on this company. What happened to "once bitten, twice shy"?

Tired of John's blog. He never has positive or good things to say.

5:06, If you are tired of reading John's blog? Then use your intetligence and stop reading it. I am sure that your chronic fatigue symdrom will soon dissapear.

This is but someting that John has found, and may be of interest to some. He may not even endorse it. (the truth will always expose itself as this story expands)Let us not get too excited about this type of thing. Lack of the proper presention of facts, in the past, (and our dwelling on them) has seemed to be one of the reason for the polarisation of this community.

Just like the mining venture this proposal is full of holes. It will be up to the next council to sew things up hopefully they havent sold the farm by then.

Off topic- But does the following not strike you as odd.
"Councillor Saje queried whether an In Camera conference call could be held with Council and the
potential light manufacturing plant. The Chief Administrative Officer noted this may occur at a
later date, with the planned conference call to include the CAO and Mayor to proceed as scheduled.
Council will be updated on the outcome of the conference call."
Even the councilors are being left in the dark and have to rely on the Mare and the CAO to let them know what is going on.I just do not get it.

Anonymous said...

To be fair, would you like a conference call with 8 or so people.

Crowsnest Pass Home said...

It would never have been 8 people on the conference call, Councilor Saje was the only one that expressed any interest.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:14 Just the fact that it was dismissed so easily bothers me.If a councilor or if all councilors want to be part of a conference call I think you have to make arrangements for that to happen. The mare has only one vote and one opinion. There is a reason that 7 people get elected.

Anonymous said...

What is wrong for an eleced to sit in on a conference call? Does the other official posses some special skills?

Anonymous said...

Have all councillors before always been involved on all conference calls, etc. How would you do that considering that meetings are usually at night, and most calls are made during the day.

Anonymous said...

Anon 3:43 If a councilor asks to be in on a conferance call. You ask him if he is available at the time of the call. You do not just dismiss him and say no you are not allowed . Quit making excuses.

After reading the blogs on this site I cannot believe how many braindead people live here. No wonder we are in so much trouble.

"After reading the blogs on this site I cannot believe how many braindead people live here. No wonder we are in so much trouble".

I am sure that there are a lot of people out east that would classify Albertans as 'brain dead' following the last Federal Election. There may be a lot of southern Albertans that may call those north of us brain dead for returning the PCs to power.

No matter what a person's views they always have one vote. Isn't being a citizen of Canada wonderfull.

Sometimes,if you pay attention those posts that seem 'brainless', you may get a better idea of the demographics that give this town it's character.

Thanks for the appreciation Anon 8:35 i was beginning to feel insulted by the previous comment. It looks like ANON 5:06 PM (Jan23)and Anon 5:31 PM (Jan24) has had a couple of bad hair days at work and cant wait to get home and vent on us. The CrowsnestPass is made up of a lot of great people even if you dont agree with them politically. Hope you have a better day today.

Peter, ALL of the people of the Crowsnest Pass should be insulted by the highjacking of the local government by the Mayor and CAO. They are running a closed shop and making deals that are then rubber stamped by a neutered Council.

Conversely, we should be used to a dictatorial Mayor, and side dealing. Could it be that true democracy rarely succeeds and if anything is to get done, the way the Mayor is proceeding is actually the way to go? Any mess that he makes will be easier to fix than just sittng there and continuously debating whether we are a tourist center, want things to stay the same or maybe we should get some new business in. In the end, all we would have is the discussions and just as much dissent.

This from one who thinks that the Mayor was not prepared to multitask the many evolving problems and issues that keep cropping up -- as least single handedly. That's why he has chosen his servant CAO who is beholden to him, as the last Townhall Meeting showed -- your Worship, thanks for defending me for living elsewhere while I serve this community. The Dynamic Duo rules.

A lot of damage has been done and someone will have to do the repairs.

Anon 10:11 the majority of the people in this community are insulted thus the petition. I will admit the "Mare" isnt lacking when it comes to doing what HE WANTS. The problem is that his servise is not sitting well with the general public. There may be some good things come about that may have happened regardless of what council we have in place. I get the feeling he could walk on water and the people still would not want him back. And this comes from someone who otherwise has deep respect for the Decoux family.

I never did catch what our Messiah's thesis that aquired him his PHD (Piled High Deep) was based on. North Korean politics?

Good work council and administration! Keep up the good work.

7:28,

Good research. Priceless!

So does this 'Mayor' think that our life here should be governed by a principal and we are nothing but a bunch of high school students in need of a proper education? Now one can see how things tend to unfold.

Only my opinion, but his PHD and delusions of superiority are detrimental to being in control of 5400 stakeholders interests. A long term resident or anyone with a true understanding of this community msy do s better job.

Good work, alright, October can't come soon enough. Someone more connected to the community will have to mend a lot of fences and help to move us out of this bureaucratic mess. Independence, you say?

"Good work council and administration!"

Did you happen to notice on that last municipal election ballot that there was also a section to elect six councilors?

I know that I voted for six councilors, believing that in a true democracy, where at times a vote of dissention can also bring sober thought.

But I do thank you for leaving the pencil sharp for the next person voting. Very thoughtfull indeed!

10:06,

I went over the thesis in it's entirety; all 254 pages,(thanks for the warning).

The author does a tremendous amount of quoting the papers of others in order to add credence to his argument.

I don't doubt that he has also read another report. I think he mentioned something called the Cluff Report at the pre-election All Candidates Forum. I guess that the aforesaid report just didn't fit into his agenda.
Soon there will be another report landing on his desk. I am happy that some of my tax dollars went into Municipal Office renovations. Did we get a few more book shelves to 'file' these nuisance reports upon?
Sometimes the people sent to do forensic investigation may be a bit more educated and experienced than some may give credit to.
A person as well educated and intelligent as our 'Messiah' should be studying such reports tenaciously, unless such person has given up learning and/or a report does not fit in with an agenda.
Are there not any clues to indicate that something may be terribly wrong here?

Anonymous said...

Educated person is not the same as reasonable person. One does not need to search very hard to be convinced of this.

Anonymous said...

I was always taught that the definition of intelligence was not a piece of paper but the ability to be given a problem; one never encountered before, and having the ability to come up with a solution based on good judgement, based on past experience.

My cat has a PHD in Physcology from the University of Pheonix, (a paper mill, which accreditation cost but $20). Perhaps a simple cat understands the demographics of the environment that exist here and the utilization of available resources better than our mayor.

He does have an education.

For a Little diversion thanks to TIME magazine.
Cat Marks 15 Years as Mayor of Alaska Town

This time, Alaska may have really found a way to fix American politics. The mayor of Talkeetna, Ak. boats sky-high approval ratings, a 15-year winning streak and, with over 6,000 subscribers, more friends than you on Facebook.
His secret? He’s a cat.
Fifteen years ago, the citizens of Talkeetna (pop. 800) didn’t like the looks of their candidates for mayor. Around that same time resident Lauri Stec, manager of Nagley’s General Store, saw a box of kittens and decided to adopt one. She named him Stubbs because he didn’t have a tail and soon the whole town was in love with him.
